Bomb Blast Claims 23 Persons at
UN House, Abuja
The
UN Building in Abuja has been rocked by an explosion, multiple
sources told Watchdogreporters on Friday morning. The bomb blast
occurred at about 10.30 am. An eyewitness said he saw bodies of
wounded victims being transported to the National Hospital in
Nigeria's capital city.
The
huge explosion took out a part of the 1st and 2nd floors of the
building located in the diplomatic area, Area 1, Garki, Abuja.
Rescue personnel including the Red Cross are on the scene
pulling victims out of the rubbles.
So
far, witnessed said about 23 persons have been confirmed dead
while several others were serious wounded.
No
group has claimed responsibility for the attack. At National
hospital in Abuja, medical personnel were calling for willing
persons to donate blood for those with serious injury.
There are insinuations that Gaddafi loyalists may have had hands
in the act, following Nigeria’s pledged support to the Libyan
rebels.
