Apprentices Graduate
The graduates of Transcorp Hilton Abuja’s
5th batch of Kitchen Apprentice Program will emerge at a
grand finale on Saturday 20th August 2011. The final
practical assessment which will take place at the Zuma Grill
will be conducted by a cross-section of invited guests and the
hotel’s kitchen management team led by the Executive Chef Frank
Noack.
The class of
2009 started out with about 300 apprentices. However, only 12 of
the apprentices fulfilled the requirements to start the program
while only 6 survived the rigors of the 2-year intensive program
to be eligible for the final assessment and graduation. The
finalists are, Ferdinand Nwodo, Juliana Nwodo, Kelechi Obasi,
Michael Yusuf, Samson Yusuf, and Stephen Effiong.
Conceived by
the hotel management to train and develop a pool of quality
chefs for the
hospitality
industry, the program consists of theories, practical cooking
and periodic examinations.
Commenting on
the program, the General Manager, Andre Herrenschmidt said ‘Hilton
has long served as the launching ground for many great chefs and
we're always excited to provide the stage for up-and-coming
talents for our industry. It is no surprise, therefore, that
the Transcorp Hilton Kitchen Apprentices Program has
become a veritable training ground for well-grounded chefs who
could hold their own anywhere in the world’.
The best
graduating Apprentice will be rewarded with full-time employment
in addition to cross-exposure training in a Hilton hotel in
Europe or the Middle East.
